Meg Rux

Hello
As a content strategist, I am passionate about finding avenues for the better. Whether it's diving into a comprehensive audit to find the root of the problem, working closely with UX to make an experience cleaner, or rewriting pages of websites to make sure the content is more inclusive and accessible in SEO and in readability—all of it is a challenge to make it better.
My story
My journey in the last seven years has been one of excitement, unexpected turns, and a lot of growth.

At VSA Partners, I started as a content writer, but always gravitated towards more content strategy and content management. With empowering leaders supporting me, I made the transition from content writer to content strategist working on clients such as Google, IBM, AT&T, Sappi, and Kincentric. But after a year, the content strategy team narrowed down to just me. As the sole content strategy resource for all three offices, I was challenged and pushed to grow quickly. While I loved my time at VSA Partners, I knew I needed a team to teach me more, show me more, and support me.

After three years at VSA Partners, I started my three-year career at One North, a TEKsystems company. I came into a content strategy and brand strategy team of eight where we shared learnings, challenged each other to deliver strong results, and I grew! In my time at One North, I filled in my deficits and grew into a strong content strategist. I sharpened my skills in content strategy, but also in brand strategy, user experience, and copywriting. I found my passion for SEO and accessibility.

Unfortunately, July 2024 was the end of the line for me. On a normal Wednesday afternoon, I had a perfect mid-year review with my manager saying I was ready for a promotion. By the following morning, my position was dissolved due to a reduction in force. The dreaded agency lay-offs caught me.

Since getting laid off, I finished planning my wedding and got married! I picked up freelancing and a few passion projects along the way. Freelancing projects range from super small start-ups and think tanks to some of the biggest brands in the world—from site audits and identifying opportunities, to website rebuilds, to nomenclature and taxonomy exercises. I've learned a lot in the freelance game.
What else?
Beyond a content strategist, I have other passions including social justice, running, and teaching group fitness classes.
