The Ask: Each year, IBM and VSA Partners work together to create IBM's annual report. Combining a letter from the CEO, thought leadership articles about IBM's progress in the last year, and the company's financial reports, VSA Partners put together a book and an accompanying site.
The Approach: The IBM Annual Report is VSA Partners' "tag your it" for practitioners. Across the agency, the IBM Annual Report is known as the hardest project every year. Gathering a hard-working, collaborative, detailed-oriented team, we worked through the night and through weekends, through unending rounds of edits.
The Result: In the end, we had a refreshing release of the IBM Annual Report—the beautiful, uplifting book, as always. But this year, with a welcomed experience with the minisite.
The Win: The IBM Annual Report project never had a content manager. It rarely had a content strategist, too. This year, the project went better than ever before—leadership on the agency and client team both said so. Getting to help make the site as useful and intuitive as possible was such a win. Getting to manage all edits, working closely with the client team and being a go-to team member for both the client and the practitioner team really showed off my leadership chops.
All in all, the 2020 IBM Annual Report was one of the most challenging projects of my career, but pushed me to be an organized, proactive, collaborative leader.
